Uncle Igor is in town!

This summer, my brother Igor came to visit us from France. I had been begging him for so long to come that he finally made the plunge of buying the pricey round-trip ticket. We were so excited at the prospect of having him with us! But, being a poor student himself, he still needed to find a way to make this trip profitable: fortunately, my sister Jessica and her husband Tim, who live in Colorado, were able to get him a job with Tim's construction company.
At first, Igor had a rough time getting used to the elevation (Colorado Springs is 8,000 feet above sea level) and the dry weather (his co-workers were impressed at the quantity of water he consumed while working), but he got used to it after a couple of weeks. Then, he took a long weekend break to come to Provo.

Levi and I picked him up from the airport with Levi's sister, Mia, who gracefully offered to chauffeur us all. The coolest thing about my brother is that no matter how long we have not seen each other, every time we are reunited it seems that he was only gone the day before. We can talk of everything as we always have. Moreover, he is always relaxed and natural so he makes people feel very comfortable; for example, Eve was completely taken by him and acted as if Igor had always been around despite the fact that it was the first time she had met her uncle. But what I loved most was to see how he and Levi got along so well. The two men I love most are now best friends! What more could I ask?

We talked a lot, picnicked every day, went to the Veteran's swimming pool, played a pick up game of football, watched The Cosby Show, and went up the mountain on the lift in Sundance. Igor also wanted to look into PhD programs at BYU since he's finishing his masters in Oil Chemistry (I think?) and he was able to talk to a few professors, walk around campus and check out some labs. But for the most part, we talked and enjoyed being together. I'll never forget these 4 precious days I had my brother back. I love you Igor!
